Anthony Joshua Plans To Get ‘Aggressive’ With Charles Martin On April 9th.
With arguably the biggest test of his career set on April 9th 2016, Joshua recently said that he plans to take Charles Martin into uncomfortable waters to make the IBF world champion title fight as unpredictable as possible. In a recent interview with Sky Sports the undefeated heavyweight said:
“I’ve got to expose him. I’ve got to take him to waters he has never been in. He’s cool and calm so I’ve got to go in there and turn it into an aggressive, uncomfortable and unpredictable type of fight. That’s how I may rattle Martin.”
Although Joshua has a perfect record of 15 fights and 15 wins by knock-out, somehow he seems to maintain his modest persona with a zero trash talk policy though some may argue that he doesn’t yet have the right to seeing as he hasn’t really been “tested” yet. Martin, allegedly the perfect opponent to ‘test’ him and show boxing fans where Joshua really stands in the heavyweight division and not so modest on the other hand previously vowed to knock Joshua out. He said:
“I’m going to say I know I can touch his chin, I know I can test it, I know I can knock him out. That’s the confidence that I walk this earth with.”
It’s still relatively early in both fighter’s careers but other people have voiced their predictions for the fight including fellow heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury who has even offered to help Charles Martin ahead of his first world title defence against Joshua and said:
“They’re having camp in Big Bear in California and I would fancy it. Then again, do I help out a guy who could potentially take £10m out of my hands [Estimated earnings for Fury v Joshua] – depending on how much I help him? But you know what, I am going to help the guy out. When he comes to London a couple of weeks before the fight, I am going to go down and see him and give him a couple of hints, show him a few moves.”
Tyson also stated that he won’t be sparring Charles Martin as he could be fighting him after he beats Wladimir Klistcho [again] but will offer him a few pointers for beating Joshua.
With the likes of Fury’s opinion given the fact that he is ranked the world’s number #1 heavyweight boxer, it may appear that the odds are stacked against Joshua but we’ve got a video coming for that! For now, Joshua, don’t worry and keep training hard! We’ve heard this whole “I’ll knock you out” talk before with Dillian Whyte and by the 7th round we had pillows and a blanket out for him.
“Chat sh*t, get banged!”
Let this be a lesson in advance to Charles Martin but hey, at least Whyte became famous after this!
